Summer slips away too soon. The farmstand baskets disappear, the porch furniture goes into storage, and the bright colors of July fade into fall. A few pieces hold on to that feeling all year, and this one does it beautifully.
These bowls are handmade in small batches, so order early if you'd like one in time for the holidays.
This artichoke bowl is handcrafted and hand-painted in Tuscany by a family-owned pottery workshop, using traditional Italian majolica techniques. The form is thrown by hand, then each leaf is shaped and attached one at a time before the piece is finished in a glossy green glaze. Every bowl varies slightly, so no two are exactly alike.
Its color brings to mind long lunches on the Mediterranean coast, lemon groves, and markets overflowing with produce. Filled with clementines and their leaves, as shown here, it feels like a sunny Italian afternoon even in the middle of winter. In summer, try lemons or peaches; in fall, pears and figs; and at the holidays, pomegranates with sprigs of cedar or holly.
At about 12 inches across and 11 inches tall on its pedestal base, it's large enough to stand on its own as a centerpiece on a dining table, kitchen island, or sideboard. Whether it’s a special holiday gift or a treat for your own table, it’s a piece to treasure for years.
Stay breezy 🌊
