Thanksgiving is still several weeks away, but now is the time to shop for tablescape accents. Many are handmade by artisans in small batches or crafted to order, so ordering early ensures they arrive in time.

Coastal tables usually mean blue and white. This Thanksgiving, try something different. Plum takes the lead, with coastal accents in the details: sea urchin napkin rings, bayberry, and pyracantha.

The Palette

Plum is the main color, softened by sea glass green and warmed by natural rattan. Bayberry and pyracantha add pops of blue and orange-red. Four pieces create the look:

Handwoven Rattan Charger Plates, Set of 4

Woven by hand from natural rattan around a sturdy frame, these 13-inch chargers add warm texture beneath every place setting while protecting the tabletop. The natural tone pairs easily with white dinnerware, patterned china, or a colored glaze like the sea glass green plates here.

Handmade Stoneware Dinner Plate

Shaped by hand from white stoneware with softly cut edges, each plate is delicate in look but durable in use. At 9 inches, it's lightweight, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe, and the sea glass green glaze brings the color of the water to the table.

Sea Urchin Wicker Napkin Ring

Each sea urchin is gathered by hand on long beach walks along the Turkish coast, then cleaned, filled, and coated for strength before being set on a woven wicker ring with a small brass accent. The set comes in a natural mix of shades, from soft pink and coral to olive and mauve, no two are exactly alike. A true treasure from the shoreline.

Stonewashed Cotton Napkins

Made from organic, medium-weight stonewashed cotton, these square napkins have a relaxed, lived-in texture that feels right at a gathering. Machine washable and ready for everyday use well after the holiday.

To finish, draw from your own collection. For the tablecloth, natural linen or a plaid with plum in it would both look lovely. Bamboo-handled flatware is shown here, but your own silverware works just as well. A few coastal accents are all it takes to create a beautiful tablescape. Use your imagination and make the look your own.
